The Office of Inspector General (OIG) performs audits, and investigations, of NARA’s programs and operations. The OIG investigates complaints or information from employees and others concerning possible violations of law, rules, or regulations, or mismanagement, gross waste of funds, abuse of authority, or substantial and specific dangers to the public health and safety. The OIG recommends policies for, and conducts, supervises, or coordinates other activities and relationships between NARA and other Government and non-Government entities to promote the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of NARA activities.

The Office of Inspector General consists of the following divisions: Audits, Investigations, and Counsel.
