Tina Williams
As a Program Analyst in the Information Security and Oversight Office (ISOO), I provide oversight to the classification management programs of six Federal agencies, including the Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Transportation, United States Postal Services, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and Securities and Exchange Commission.
As the primary liaison to these agencies on information classification matters, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of individuals - from senior agency officials to lawyers, archivists, and auditors. I feel that this exposure, in addition to my opportunity to work with such a talented and professional team, will give me the edge that I need to become the very best in my field.
I joined the National Archives because I wanted to continue and strengthen my career in classification management and I knew that the National Archives/ISOO had a reputation for being one of the Federal government's "elite" organizations. I periodically checked the OPM job web site and attended conferences and training courses where ISOO representatives were presenting, but when a friend handed me a vacancy announcement for the National Archives in ISOO, I knew that it was the job for me. My persistence paid off and in 2003, I was hired.
One of the things that has impressed me most about the National Archives is the agency's willingness to invest in its staff. For example, the National Archives' college tuition assistance program has allowed me to return to college to continue my studies in security management. In addition, the National Archives' credit time policy provides me with the home/work balance that I was seeking.
I am proud to work for the National Archives/ISOO and look forward to many more rewarding years as a National Archives employee.
