Steps to Fix Error When Playing the ERA Streaming Video

If you see the following error message when viewing the streaming video through Windows Media Player, please follow these steps to fix the issue.

Windows Media Player cannot play this file. Connect to the Internet or insert the removable media on which the file is located, and then try to play the file again.

If this is NOT the error you are receiving then please call the NARA Help Desk at (301) 837-2020. If this IS the error you are receiving then proceed with the following steps to resolve the error:

1. Close Windows Media Player.

2. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer (if it is not already open).

3. Go to Tools Click Internet options. The following window will open:

4. Click the Connections tab.

5. Click the LAN settings button. The following window will open:

6. Make sure all boxes are unchecked. If they aren't then uncheck them. If you made changes (i.e. un-checking the boxes) or not click OK to close the window.

7. Click OK to close the next window.

8. Restart your work station.

This will resolve the issue with the streaming Windows Media Player video. If the problem is still present and you are not able to play the video please call the NARA Help Desk at (301) 837-2944.
