With over 4 billion paper documents, 5.5 million maps, charts, and architectural drawings, and nearly 35 million still pictures in the nationwide holdings of the National Archives, it easy for a researchers to become confused and overwhelmed amongst the size and breadth of information. To help researchers wade through the immense amount of material, the National Archives maintains the Archival Research Catalog (ARC). It is a valuable online resource for genealogists and historians alike because it organizes descriptions for records located in the Washington, DC, area, the Regional Archives, and Presidential Libraries. Join the Archives staff as we explain how to use catalog, offer helpful hints, and advise against common pitfalls. Participants are encouraged to visit the computer research room after class to apply their new skills.
All workshops are free and open to the public and will be held at the National Archives at Kansas City, 400 West Pershing Road, Kansas City, MO.
Free parking is available for National Archives visitors, with additional free parking available in the Union Station Parking Garage on the west side of Union Station.
