1783: Subject or Citizen?
In celebration of the 225th anniversary of the Treaty of Paris, the National Archives presents an international exhibition featuring the collections of the National Archives and Library and Archives Canada. 1783: Subject or Citizen? will display 60 archival treasures from the vaults of both institutions, including the rarely displayed 1783 Treaty of Paris from the U.S. National Archives. The exhibition opens in the Lawrence F. O’Brien Gallery on October 3, and runs through January 25, 2009.

"McGowan Forum on Communications, Technology, and Government"
Ensuring that voting systems accurately record and report voter intent has become a matter of great public concern since the 2000 confusion in Florida. Much of the public debate has centered on the security of electronic voting systems. Brookings Senior Fellow Thomas Mann moderates a panel discussion about advantages and disadvantages of electronic voting systems and what the U.S. can learn from experiences with new technologies around the globe.
