The Archivist, Allen Weinstein, gathers the ceremony participants in the Rotunda: (left to right) Major Norman T. Hatch, USMCR (Ret.); documentary filmmaker and keynote speaker Ken Burns; journalist Cokie Roberts; Allen Weinstein; and Lieutenant Colonel Henry Cervantes, USAF (Ret.). Hatch and Cervantes are decorated veterans of WWII.
Allen Weinstein with National Archives Foundation board member, Ken Burns. Mr. Burns’ new documentary series about the Second World War, called The War, debuts Sept. 23, 2007. He tells the story using, in part, the records, photographs and film footage preserved at the National Archives.
