The National Archives at New York City is pleased to offer free curriculum-based, student field trips for schools, home-schoolers, camps, and other learning communities to learn about the National Archives and the rich primary sources it holds that tell our American story

Hands-On Archives: Exploring America's Diversity

Length: 90 minutes (minimum) to 120 minutes

Short Description: In this field trip, students will learn about the diverse history of the United States through Passenger Arrival records, Census records and Naturalization records of real life Americans.

Hands-On Archives: Getting Ready for National History Day

Length: 90 minutes (minimum) to 180 minutes

Short Description: In this field trip, the National Archives at New York City offers primary source analysis strategies and research information to learn about how to incorporate primary sources from the National Archives into National History Day entries.

Hands-On Archives: The Confino Family

Length: 3 hours (minimum) to 4 hours

Short Description: In this field trip, students will learn about the diverse history of the United States through Passenger Arrival records, Census records and Naturalization records of real life Americans.

Hands-On Archives: Introduction to the National Archives

Length: 90 minutes (minimum) to 120 minutes

Short Description: In the Introduction to the National Archives student field trip, participants learn about the National Archives through a hands-on analysis of our materials. Students serve as historians analyzing and interpreting a variety of National Archives primary sources related to a topic of your choice.

This customized workshop is designed to fit a variety of grade levels, student abilities, and topic areas.
