Additional JFK Records to Be Made Available at the National Archives

WASHINGTON, DC. . . On Monday, January 10, l994, the National Archives will make available to the public additional records relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in accordance with the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992. The records are:

  • 31,196 pages of files relating to the FBI investigation requested by the Warren Commission regarding President Kennedy's assassination.

  • 41,710 pages of files relating to the investigation of Jack Ruby maintained by the FBI's Dallas Office.

  • 5,000 pages of files of the Select Committee to Study Government Operations With Respect to Intelligence Activities (the Church Committee) relating to the assassination of President Kennedy. Records consist of copies of documents provided to the Committee from several agencies, including the FBI, the CIA, the Department of Justice, the Department of Treasury and the United States Secret Service.

    These materials will be made available in the National Archives Research Room at 8:45 A.M. on Monday, January 10, l994. Use the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance, between 7th and 9th Streets, NW.

    PLEASE NOTE: The JFK Assassination Collection is scheduled to move to the new National Archives facility in College Park, Maryland (known as Archives II) in March 1994. In connection with the move, these records will be closed temporarily for research on February 22, l994, and will reopen in College Park on April 1, 1994.

    PLEASE NOTE: As of April 1994, these records are available at the National Archives in College Park, Maryland, located at 8601 Adelphi Road. Research Room hours are: Monday and Wednesday 8:45 AM - 5 PM; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:45 AM - 9 PM; Saturday 8:45 AM - 4:45 PM. Research cards are required.
