In May the National Archives and Records Administration will hold genealogy workshops relating to Union Records, Confederate Records, Naturalization Records, and Federal Land Records. The fee for each workshop is $15, payable at the door by check or exact amount in cash. Advance registration is required; call 202-501-6694.

The genealogy workshops will take place at the National Archives Building, Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW. The public may verify times and dates by calling the National Archives at 202 -501-6694.

Tuesday, May 8-If Grandpa Wore Blue: Union Records at the National Archives
Guest lecturer Marie V. Melchiori, CGRS, CGL, will discuss commonly used compiled military service and pension records. Lesser-used correspondence and medical records and Regular Army and Volunteers records will also be discussed. 9:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. Room G-13. Classroom A.

Thursday, May 10-If Grandpa Wore Gray: Confederate Records at the National Archives
Guest lecturer Marie V. Melchiori, CGRS, CGL, will discuss compiled military service records and the lesser-used correspondence records. Some of these records can be used to locate civilians as well as soldiers. 9:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. Room G-13, Classroom A.

Tuesday, May 22-Naturalization Records
Guest lecturer Dr. John P. Colletta, Ph.D., will discuss Federal, state, and local naturalization records. The workshop will focus on Federal records in NARA regional archives. 9:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. Room G-13, Classroom A.

Thursday, May 24-Federal Land Records
Among the least-used genealogical resources are Federal land records preserved at the National Archives. They locate families, document land holdings, and may provide much family information as well. Guest lecturer Claire Bettag, CGRS, M.A., will discuss general land entry case files, bounty land records, private land claims, and related Federal land records. 9:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. Room G-13, Classroom A.
