Federal Agencies Win Awards from National Archives

Washington, DC…At a records management conference on May 8, 2007, the National Archives recognized five Federal agencies for their outstanding achievements in records management. Archivist Allen Weinstein presented Archivist Achievement Awards to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the Government Accountability Office, the Department of Homeland Security-United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of the Navy, and the Small Business Administration.

The awards were given at the 19th Annual Records Administration Conference (RACO 2007). The theme of the conference was “RM and IT: Building the Digital Future,” and it focused on the latest tools, strategies and issues in Federal information and electronic records management. Hon. John M. Facciola, Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia delivered the keynote address on e-Discovery and the new Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. His presentation was followed by a dialogue with Jason R. Baron, the National Archives Director of Litigation, to explore the implications of e-discovery for records management in Federal agencies.
