MEMORANDUM TO FEDERAL AGENCY CONTACTS: DATE CHANGES: Training Workshops Related to the Release of NARA Bulletin 2013-02: Guidance on a New Approach to Managing Email Records (Capstone)

Due to the government shutdown and efforts to restore services, the Office of the Chief Records Officer is rescheduling some Capstone training workshop sessions. This includes the upcoming workshop session
on October 22, 2013, and the session missed on October 16, 2013.

Registration for all workshop sessions still remains open. Instructions on how to register is at the end of this notice.

October 22, 2013 Live (in-person, McGowan) Workshop Session:

The October 22, 2013 training workshop session is being rescheduled. The new date for this session is November 7, 2013.

Those individuals who have registered for the 10/22/2013 date will be automatically registered for the 11/7/2013 session. Detail on time and location is below. You only need to contact NARA if you registered for the 10/22/2013 session, but are unable to attend the 11/7/2013 session. Information on other open sessions is below.

October 16, 2013 Virtual Workshop Session (canceled due to shutdown):

The missed October 16, 2013 virtual workshop session is being rescheduled. The new date for this session is November 14, 2013.

Those individuals who have registered for the 10/16/2013 date will be automatically registered for the 11/14/2013 session. Detail on time and other logistics is below. You only need to contact NARA if you registered for the 10/16/2013 session, but cannot make the 11/14/2013 session. Information on other open sessions is below.

Below is a breakout of the dates for all remaining in-person and virtual sessions. The workshop will feature an overview of this Bulletin and an introduction to planning and tools for Capstone implementation.

Archives I Workshop Session

  • November 7, 2013

The Archives I session will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end no later than 12:00 p.m. This in-person session will be held at the National Archives and Records Administration downtown building, 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW (Metrorail's Yellow or Green lines to the Archives/Navy Memorial station) in the McGowan Theater. Please enter on the Constitution Avenue side of the building, the "Special Events" entrance (which is actually the exit for the general public). To reserve a place at this in-person session, email your name, telephone number, and agency name to rm.communications@nara.gov. You may reserve places for several staff in the same email, but for security purposes we must have each individual's name, telephone number, and email address. As mentioned above, those who registered for the 10/22 session will be automatically registered for this session; NARA need only be contacted if you are unable to make
this date.

Virtual Workshop Sessions

  • October 30, 2013
  • November 14, 2013

The virtual sessions will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end no later than 3:30 p.m. Registration for each virtual session is limited to 100 participants. Each session is identical in content. To register for a virtual workshop session, click on the following link https://nara.ilinc.com/public/pmurray . You will receive a confirmation email after registration. As mentioned above, those who registered for the 10/16 session will be automatically registered for the 11/14 session; NARA need only be contacted if you are unable to
make this date.

We will record and post to NARA's YouTube account a version of the virtual workshop for those who are unable to attend either an in-person or virtual workshop session. We expect to post this offering by the end of November.

NARA reserves the right to postpone or cancel a meeting at any time. We will make every effort to contact registrants by e-mail and telephone if that occurs, so complete information at the time of registration is very important.

Meetings WILL BE CANCELED if the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) announces a "closed,""unscheduled leave," "liberal leave," or "delayed arrival" policy for Federal employees for that day of if
there has been an elevation to threat level RED in the Homeland Security status. Official Government closing and leave information is located on the OPM web site at www.opm.gov.
