MEMORANDUM TO FEDERAL AGENCY RECORDS CONTACTS: Records Administration Conference, RACO 2010
I am pleased to announce that the 22nd Annual Records Administration Conference (RACO 2010) will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in downtown Washington D.C. The theme of this year's conference is Managing the Records of an Open Government.
On December 8, 2009, OMB issued OMB M-10-06, Open Government Directive, which instructs executive departments and agencies to take specific actions to implement the principles of transparency, participation, and collaboration set forth in the President's Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government, issued on January 21, 2009. The role of records management in fostering transparent and open government is explicitly acknowledged in those instructions. Our RACO presentations will focus on the records management issues and challenges presented by the Open Government Directive and provide strategies agencies can use to address these challenges. As we finalize the program, additional information will be available on the RACO 2010 website.
