MEMORANDUM TO FEDERAL AGENCY RECORDS CONTACTS: Encouraging Federal RM Participation in the Administrations Transparency Blog.

Beth Noveck, Deputy Chief Technology Officer for Open Government [OSTP] and the keynote speaker at our recent, annual RACO Conference spoke about the relationship between records and social media (see her presentation at ). At that time, she reminded us that while the brainstorming phase of a social media-enabled discussion focused on how to implement the Presidents Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government( )has concluded, the discussion phase providing the an opportunity to dig deeper into the ideas and challenges presented during that initial phase has recently begun. As a reminder of the role that records management has in facilitating transparency of government, NARA encourages you to participate in the discussion, offering your unique records management-related perspectives regarding specific postings. The OSTP blog can be found at .

If you have any questions, please contact the Lifecycle Management Division appraiser or Regional Records Management Contact assigned to work with your agency. A list of the appraisal and scheduling work groups is posted on the NARA web site at: .
