MEMORANDUM TO FEDERAL AGENCY RECORDS OFFICERS: Newly Approved Records Control Schedules
In March of this year, I announced in NWM 13.2010 the availability of the Records Control Schedule (RCS) website that provides access to unclassified NARA-approved records schedules (also referred to as SF 115s, Request for Records Disposition Authority) for Federal agency records. At this time I am pleased to inform you that approved SF 115s from 1973 to the present are now scanned and posted on the RCS website at www.archives.gov/records-mgmt/rcs/index.html.
Going forward, all newly approved SF 115s will be available for six (6) months through the Newly Approved Schedules link on the RCS website. Each newly approved SF 115 will also be posted in the RCS main repository under agency name and record group number.
As of October 1, 2010, NWML will no longer e-mail individual PDF copies of approved SF 115s to agencies. Instead, agencies that have a recently approved records schedule will receive an e-mail notification that will include a link to all newly approved schedules that have been posted on the RCS. Please reply to the e-mail address listed below if there have been any changes to the contact information or e-mail addresses for your agency.
If you have any questions, please contact the records management contact assigned to work with your agency. A list of contacts and work groups is posted on the NARA web site at:http://www.archives.gov/records-mgmt/appraisal/index.html.
For additional information on the RCS website, please visit the RCS's More about Records Control Schedules link. If you have any technical questions pertaining to the posted SF 115s, please e-mail your inquiries to email@example.com.
