Electronic Records Management Automation: PRMD Goal A3.1
Opportunities for Vendors
The vendor and open source communities will be critical to the success of PRMD Goal A3.1. There will be many opportunities for vendors to engage with the Federal records and information management communities throughout the projects under this goal.
NARA and the ERM Working Group are currently planning four types of engagement, but additional events and methods of engagement will follow as further stages of the Managing Government Records Directive plan are developed.
As planning progresses, we will link to additional information from the Vendor Presentations page.
An Industry Day Event. NARA is planning an event for vendors in September 2013 at which the Federal records management and IT community will explain what we are hoping to achieve under the Managing Government Records Directive and provide an opportunity to ask questions. This will serve as the kick off for an RFI.
RFI for vendor capability statements. Shortly after the industry day, NARA will issue an RFI for short statements summarizing vendors’ ability to help agencies meet the goals of the PRMD. The statements will be shared with the Federal records management and IT communities to support their planning to meet the goals of the Managing Government Records Directive. NARA is not planning a procurement; the RFI is to benefit the whole Federal information community to encourage market research and planning across the government to meet the electronic records management goals of the PRMD.
General input on Federal Information Strategy. NARA is seeking advice from the private sector on ways to improve the Federal government’s ability to manage and provide access to information over the long term. This input should be submitted in the form of short white papers and can be sent to PRMD@nara.gov at any time with the subject line “A3.1 vision”.
More information on submitting general input is available here: Opportunities for Anyone Interested in a Long Term Federal Information Strategy.
