  • Selected Naturalization Petitions, Declarations, and Oaths, 1798 - 1861
    14 multi-page documents from this series created by the United States District Court, Southern District of Georgia, Savannah Division, have been digitized. Naturalization records document an individual's intention and petition to the United States requesting citizenship. The three phase naturalization process is then completed by the oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Additional information such as applicant's age, occupation, and arrival information is often found in these records. These materials are held by NARA's Southeast Region (Atlanta, GA).

  • Naturalization Petition and Record Books, 1943 - 1978
    327 documents from this series have been digitized. The digitized documents relate to naturalization records created by the United States District Court, Sixth Division of Minnesota (Fergus Falls). Among the digitized items are declarations of intention, petitions for naturalization, certificates of loyalty, and certificates of arrival. Information about a petitioner includes his/her name, residence, nationality, date and place of birth, date of admission into the U.S. for permanent residences, marital status, and number of children. The digitized documents are held by NARA's Great Lakes Region (Chicago, IL).

  • Selected Documents from the San Francisco District Office of the Immigration and Naturalization Service
    17 multi-page documents relating to case files of alien individuals considered to be a threat to the United States have been digitized. Included are the investigation files for the case against Harry Bridges, an Australian citizen who became active in longshore labor unions in San Francisco, and was later accused of being a communist. Also included is the Enemy Alien Case files #12016/1106 of Ernst Hamann, a German native who arrived in the U. S. a few days after President Wilson's anti-enemy alien proclamation of April 6, 1917. These materials are held by NARA's Pacific Region(San Bruno, CA.)
