Selected Documents from the Jimmy Carter Library, 1977 - 1981
84 multi-page textual documents from the Jimmy Carter Library have been digitized. The digitized documents include the Iranian hostage crisis "Rescue Mission Report" from the Lloyd Norton Cutler Files; human rights documents and documents concerning the innocence of Dr. Samuel Mudd (the physician who set John Wilkes Booth's broken leg after the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln) from the Robert J. Lipshutz Files; and documents relating to Alaska Lands from the Margaret McKenna Files. Also included are selections from the files of the Chief of Staff and the Domestic Policy Staff; and documents relating to Americans missing and unaccounted for in Southeast Asia. These materials are held by the Jimmy Carter Library (Atlanta, GA).Search Hint: To retrieve the 84 multi-page digitized documents:

- Leave the Keywords box blank.
- Select the limit results radio button for 100.

Carter White House Photographs: Presidential, January 20, 1977 - January 22, 1981
834 photographs have been digitized from this collection. This series consists of photographs of Jimmy Carter, his family and staff while he was president. The collection documents the day-to-day activities of President and Mrs. Carter. This series also includes shots of senior White House aides such as Hamilton Jordan, Jody Powell and Zbigniew Brzezinski; cabinet members and cabinet meetings; President Carter's foreign and domestic trips and state visits by foreign leaders. Significant events such as the Panama Canal Treaty signing ceremony, Camp David Mid-East Summit and Treaty Signing ceremony, SALT II, and the visit of Pope John Paul II are especially well documented. Photos of Carter family members, particularly Amy Carter, also are included in the collection. However, few photos were taken of the family in the private residence of the White House. These materials are held by the Jimmy Carter Library (Atlanta, GA).Search Hint: To retrieve the 834 digitized documents:

- Select the Advanced search.
- Scroll down to the Collection Identifier lookup filter. Press the lookup button.
- Enter the exact phrase {JC-WHSP} in the collection identifier keywords box.
- Press the Go button. The title of the Collection will display.
- Paste the selected collection into the advanced screen by pressing the ALL button. ARC will take you back to the Advanced Search Screen, with "JC-WHSP" now pasted in the Collection Identifier(s) box.
- Select the limit results radio button for 1000.
- Select the box marked Descriptions of Archival Materials linked to digital copies.
- Select the Type filter marked Photographs and Other Graphic Materials.
- Press the Go button. The result page will tell you 834 hit(s) were retrieved with filters applied.
- Press the Display all Hits button.

28 photographs from this series have been digitized. The color photographs cover the period between March 29 and April 30, 1979 and were acquired by the Department of Energy through a contract with EG and G, a photographic services company. This series contains aerial photographs of the TMI plant, facilities and surrounding countryside, as well as photographs of the post accident activities.
