Gerald R. Ford Library White House Photographic Office Photographs, 1913 - 1977
295 photographs from this collection have been digitized. Included are photographs of President Ford's family and activities from his childhood through his presidency. During the Ford presidency, David Kennerly, a photojournalist whom Ford met while Vice President, and four other photographers, took approximately 285,000 photos of the President and his staff and family. These photographs are held by the Gerald R. Ford Library (Ann Arbor, MI).Search Hint: To retrieve the 295 digitized photographs:
- Go to http://www.archives.gov/research/arc/.
- Press the Yellow search button to go to the Archival Descriptions Search screen.
- To search only for archival descriptions that have digital copies, click the Digital Copies search button at the top of the ARC pages.
- Select the Advanced search.
- Scroll down to the Collection Identifier lookup filter. Press the lookup button.
- Enter the exact phrase {GRF-WHPO} in the collection identifier keywords box.
- Press the Go button. The title of the Collection will display.
- Paste the selected collection into the advanced screen by pressing the ALL button. ARC will take you back to the Advanced Search Screen, with "GRF-WHPO" now pasted in the Collection Identifier(s) box.
- Select the limit results radio button for 1000.
- Press the Go button. The result page will tell you 295 hit(s) were retrieved with filters applied.
- Press the Display all Hits button.
- When hits are returned for your search, view the full result of your hit by selecting the Title link.

16 multi-page documents have been digitized from this collection. Connor was one of several young assistants brought into the Ford White House. He first supervised the Scheduling and Advance Office. He became Cabinet Secretary in January 1975 and continued to supervise the Scheduling and Advance Office. He was also the principal intermediary between the White House and Cabinet officials. In a White House operations reorganization in June 1975, Connor was replaced as head of the Scheduling and Advance Office, but retained his role as Cabinet Secretary. He also assumed the duty of Staff Secretary. As Staff Secretary, Connor was a key supervisor of the White House Office. These materials are held by the Gerald R.
