Notice to Researchers on the Unavailability of Records

As part of our on-going commitment to preserve our records, the National Archives is currently microfilming many of our most important files documenting assets looted by the Axis powers. Consequently, there will be times when some of the files will be closed to research use. We urge researchers to contact us prior to their visit to determine the status of records they wish to examine.

The first records to be microfilmed are: all of Record Group 239, Records of the American Commission for the Protection and Salvage of Artistic and Historic Monuments in War Areas (The Roberts Commission), 1943-46; and approximately 60 series of records relating to the Office of Military Government for Germany, United States (OMGUS) among Record Group 260.

For more information call the Textual Archives Services Division at (301) 837-3510.
