Cold Storage Materials Move

[Revised March 25, 2005]

The National Archives and Records Administration will be moving the materials currently in cold storage in Boyers, Pennsylvania, to a new cold storage facility in Lenexa, Kansas. The move to Lenexa will begin on April 11, 2005, and it will require about four months to completely move and inventory the holdings. The move schedule requires segments of records (motion picture film, aerial film, and microfilm) to be moved at the same time to decrease the amount of time that the records are unavailable. An approximate move schedule is outlined below for the various segments of the records. Please note that records will be closed approximately one week before their scheduled move and each shipment will be available one week after the transfer. While some records may be closed for only two weeks others may be unavailable for up to ten weeks.

We regret the inconvenience this will cause but will do everything possible to minimize any access problems. We will continue to update this notice as necessary. If you have any questions/concerns about the move or the proposed schedule, please contact Bob Richardson at 301-837-2903.

Motion Picture Film - Closed April 8th. Move from April 15th to June 1st. All available for retrieval June 8th.

Aerial Film - Closed May 27th. Move from June 3rd to August 12th. All available for retrieval August 19th.

Microfilm - Closed April 14th. Move from April 21st to May 26th. All available for retrieval June 2nd.
