In her new book, 1774: The Long Year of Revolution, historian Mary Beth Norton chronicles the revolutionary change that occurred from December 1773 to April 1775—from the Boston Tea Party to the Battles of Lexington and Concord. During those 16 months, colonists traditionally loyal to King George III began their discordant “discussions” that led to their acceptance of the inevitability of war. In a conversation with Tom Putnam, the director of the Concord Museum, Norton will discuss her groundbreaking and original new book.

At the conclusion of the hour-long forum, and in partnership with the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, the Concord Museum will unveil a new interactive microsite, The Shot Heard Round the World, featuring multimedia animations that bring the story of the iconic events of April 19, 1775, to life.
