Exhibit Closing: Vote Like Your Whole Depended Like It: The Story of the 1968 Election

Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum
Yorba Linda, CA

Tuesday, November 6, 2018 - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST

Assassinations. Riots. Fires. Destruction in our Cities.

“Did we come all this way for this?”

This new, highly-visual, originally-curated exhibit at the Nixon Library will dig up a time capsule to peel back a veil on the presidential election that capped one the most divisive, colorful, and consequential years in American history.

The three final presidential candidates will present you with their contrasting visions for America —and America’s role in the world— culminating in the chaotic Democratic National Convention in Chicago and Richard Nixon’s hairbreadth victory that November.

Jump back to the days of tie-dye, peace, love, and hippies; sit in a single family living room, pop in a Simon and Garfunkel LP, and take in the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite.

We’re taking you back in time — and you won’t want to miss it!

The exhibit opens on the 50th anniversary of Richard Nixon’s selection as the presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention in Miami, Florida on August 8, 1968, and will close on November 6, the day on which he was declared the winner and elected President of the United States.
