Final Secrets of the Zimmermann Telegram

Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum
West Branch, IA

Thursday, October 24, 2019 - 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CDT

Former Hoover archivist Dale Mayer will present a story of his findings in the archives- a telegram which changed the course of WWI. The story begins in 1915 when British Naval Intelligence agents managed to steal German military code manuals that enabled British Naval Intel to anticipate and frustrate German plans. Its impact on the outcome of the war, and the incredible final secrets of the Zimmermann telegram, have never been fully revealed- until now.

Mayer wrote the article on the Zimmermann telegram because he is convinced that it was undoubtedly the most important event of World War I. His story will explain why.

5:30 p.m. reception in the Museum lobby, followed by the talk at 6:00 p.m. The event, hosted by the Hoover Presidential Foundation, is free and open to the public.

All events listed in the calendar are free unless noted.
