In celebration of Lincoln’s birthday, we present a program focusing on the monument built to honor the 16th President and the artist who created the statue for the Lincoln Memorial, Daniel Chester French. Monument Man is the first comprehensive biography of this fascinating figure and his illustrious career. In an illustrated conversation, Lincoln scholar and author of Monument Man Harold Holzer and Howard University Professor of History Edna Greene Medford will explore the life of French, whose evolution ran parallel to, and deeply influenced, the development of American sculpture, iconography, and historical memory.  A book signing will follow the program.

Presented in partnership with the Lincoln Group of the District of Columbia.
