The Office of General Counsel (NGC) is the National Archives' chief legal officer and adviser. The NGC's primary functions are providing legal advice, conducting legal research and analysis, representing the agency in court and providing legal counsel to the agency. In addition to the NGC, the office staff consists of a Senior Counsel, a Director of Litigation, a Counsel on Procurement Initiatives, a FOIA/Privacy Act Officer, and several assistant counsels.
