Office of Government Information Services

The OPEN Government Act of 2007 amended the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to create the Office of Government Information Services (AOGIS), part of Agency Services, within NARA. As the Federal FOIA ombudsman's office, AOGIS's mandate is to provide mediation services to resolve disputes between FOIA requesters and agencies, and to review agencies' FOIA policies and procedures as well as their compliance with FOIA. AOGIS supports the work of FOIA staff at agencies across the Federal Government with resources including a FOIA dispute resolution skills training program.

For more information about AOGIS and the services it provides, visit the (Public Link) AOGIS website.
