Extract of Treaty and Table of Land Measures

When the U.S. took over ownership of California, Los Angeles land office staff had to determine which parcels of land were being claimed as land grants and which parcels were open to the public for homesteads or cash purchases.  The staff of the land office needed to understand the system of land measurement used under Mexico and therefore created this extract in order to assist themselves in determining which lands were open to settlement.
