MAS files are templates that could be used to create presentations. Lotus Freelance Graphics was initially developed by Graphic Communications Inc. and released by Lotus Software, after acquiring Graphic Communications in 1986. Lotus Freelance was initially available on the DOS and OS/2 operating systems, and later on Microsoft Windows as part of the Lotus SmartSuite. Lotus was purchased by IBM in 1995, and IBM discontinued support for SmartSuite in 2014. Because MAS files are unsupported by a developer, proprietary, and lack an open, published format specification, they should be transformed into a more sustainable format." ;
