  dcterms:description "Macromedia Flash (SWF, Shockwave Flash, Adobe Flash) version 7 files are proprietary animation files with audio and video for use in interactive multimedia applications. SWF files are compiled from proprietary Flash Project (FLA) files. SWF files were originally developed by the company FutureWave Software in 1996. It was acquired by Macromedia the same year for integration with its Shockwave brand, and later for use with its Flash Player. Macromedia was acquired by Adobe in 2005 and re-branded as Adobe Flash, which was discontinued in 2020 and no longer supported in modern web browsers. Flash 7, AKA Flash MX 2004, was released in 2003, the first version to introduce support for ActionScript 2.0 and web services integration. There is a published specification, but it is not complete. Due to its discontinuation and lack of open specification, it is recommended to transform SWF files to MP4 when possible or to retain as-is if transformation is not available." ;
