Publisher 2002, which was version 10.0 of the format and the software, was released in 2001 for Windows 98 or later operating systems. The software version number jumped from 6.0 to 10.0 with this release, in order to tally the Microsoft Office versions. PUB files are proprietary and do not have an open, published format specification. Microsoft will also phase out Publisher in 2026, and no longer plans to support prior versions of the software. Therefore, transforming PUB files to PDF is recommended." ;
