  dcterms:description "The Write for Windows Document file format (WRI) is a text file format that is a subset of the Rich Text Format. It was developed by Microsoft for use with its Microsoft Write word processor as part of the Windows operating system and was included in Windows 1.0 through Windows NT 3.51. Files with the WRI extension were most commonly associated with Windows 3.0 and earlier versions. In 1992, Microsoft Write 3.1 introduced OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) capability, meaning text documents could allow embedding as well as linking to other objects which can negatively impact and/or limit future interoperability. The Microsoft Write word processor was replaced by WordPad as part of Windows95. Given that WRI is an outdated proprietary format that is no longer supported, transformation to .DOC, .DOCX, or .ODT is recommended although additional research is needed to determine the optimal format for rendering WRI files as accurately as possible." ;
