  dcterms:description "Nikon RAW (NRW) is a raw image format native to Nikon COOLPIX digital cameras. It is similar to Nikon Electronic Format (NEF) but NEF is produced by DSLR cameras rather than COOLPIX. Like many camera raw formats, NRW is proprietary but based on TIFF. Raw image files contain unprocessed or minimally processed digital camera image sensor data. NRW files are 12-bit and contain uncompressed image data. To view the raw files, the output from the image sensor must be converted to a photographic rendering (processed) and stored in a viewable raster graphics format such as TIFF or JPEG. Processing may occur in the camera or through a raw file converter. Due to the proprietary nature of the format, NARA recommends transforming to Digital Negative Format (DNG) for preservation." ;
