Raw image files contain unprocessed or minimally processed digital camera image sensor data. To view the raw files, the output from the image sensor must be converted to a photographic rendering (processed) and stored in a viewable raster graphics format such as TIFF or JPEG. Processing may occur in the camera or through a raw file converter. Due to the proprietary nature of the format, NARA recommends transforming to Digital Negative Format (DNG) for preservation." ;
