Individuals who wish to visit the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) because they have a strong interest in viewing records in person may do so by scheduling an appointment in the NPRC's Research Rooms:

If the veteran separated from military service before 1957: 
 		 If the Federal civil servant's employment ended before 1952:
 		 If the veteran separated from military service after 1956:
 		 If the Federal civil servant's employment ended after 1951
 

What is the difference between Federal and Archival Records?

Please Note: Archival and Federal (non-archival) records are accessed in separate Research Rooms. If you want to view both archival and non-archival records, you must schedule an appointment with each Research Room.
