Records of the Trade and Development Agency (RG 486)

The Trade and Development Agency (TDA) is responsible for advancing economic development and U.S. commercial interests in developing and middle–income countries by funding feasibility studies for large projects and through technical symposia.  In 1988, Congress statutorily established the Trade and Development Program from similarly-named organization established in the International Development Cooperation Agency in 1980.  In 1992, the name of the agency was changed to the Trade and Development Agency.  Prior to the establishment of TDP, its functions had been carried out by USAID.
