National Archives at San Francisco

The National Archives at San Francisco

The research rooms at the National Archives at San Francisco will be closed from Monday, September 8, through Monday, October 5, 2015, for long-needed renovation. Once completed, researchers will have a more comfortable, accessible, and attractive environment in which to pursue their work.

We recommend that you periodically check our website, http://www.archives.gov/san-francisco/, for updates regarding progress and the reopening date.

While the research rooms are closed, we will be accepting email requests for records, but we will be unable to process them or schedule appointments until reopening. Once we’re fully reopened, we ask your patience as we work through the backlog of requests and get back to normal operational speed.

However, if you have an emergency – for example, impending deportation, a trial, revocation of benefits, congressional necessity – please leave a message on our main telephone, 650-238-3501, and we will make every effort to accommodate your need.

We ask that you bear with us as we undergo this disruption of public service. It is our hope that we will have a facility that we are all pleased and proud to have as a community and world resource.

We thank you for your continued interest and support.

Sincerely,
The National Archives at San Francisco
