Equal Employment Opportunity Program

Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)

EEO seal

EEO is all about ensuring that employment opportunities are fair, equal, and consistent for all employees!

Mission: To provide leadership, direction, and guidance to carry out NARA鈥檚 equal employment opportunity responsibilities according to Federal laws, executive orders, statutes, regulations, and policies to establish and maintain a Model EEO Program.

Vision: To foster a work environment that is free from discrimination and promotes fair, equal, and consistent employment opportunities for the best talent available. Accordingly, NEEO takes on a range of functions within its two main program offices:

Model EEO Compliance Program (MECP)

  • The Model EEO Compliance Program was established by statute to ensure equal employment opportunities for all federal workers.
  • As such, the MECP works to improve the agency through assessments and annual reporting of the state of the agency via the Management Directive 715 annual reporting.
  • The MECP Program also works with the Disability and Complaints division to analyze the outcomes of each program and identify any barriers to equal employment opportunity within the federal workforce.

Complaints Management Program

  • The Complaints Program is designed to provide an effective and efficient process for addressing EEO discrimination complaints and harassment allegations.
  • It is a neutral program that allows employees and applicants for employment who feel that they have been discriminated against based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age ( 40 or older), disability (mental or physical), genetic information, pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, and reprisal/retaliation for engaging in protected activity or other non-merit-based factors. Regarding pregnancy, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) requires agencies to provide reasonable accommodation to employees' known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions unless such accommodations pose an undue hardship to the agency.
