Facility Improvement Notice
The National Archives at Boston will be undergoing facility improvements from September 21 - November 30, 2009.
The two-month project will replace the internal HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) system and will not impact the public research areas. The HVAC system is particularly important in the design of warehouses, where safe and healthy building conditions are regulated with temperature and humidity controls, as well as "fresh air" from outdoors.
Certain records (approximately 12%) in the National Archives at Boston will be temporarily inaccessible due to these facility improvements. Researchers are advised to contact the Archives well in advance of requiring records. During certain phases of this project, there could be delays in records retrieval from our stacks.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and we shall continue efficient service as much as possible. We look forward to this new and improved system, which will ensure the long-term preservation of our holdings.
