Established: In the Department of the Interior, by EO 7057, May 28, 1935, in accordance with the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act (49 Stat. 115), April 8, 1935.
Functions: Provided relief, increased employment, and rehabilitated the agricultural economy in Puerto Rico through urban and rural housing projects, farm loans, agricultural cooperatives, and construction of hydroelectric plants.
Abolished: By the Secretary of the Interior, February 15, 1955, under authority of a joint resolution (67 Stat. 584), August 15, 1953.
