Graves Registration Division At
The Atlanta General Depot

The Graves Registration Division at the Atlanta General Depot was responsible for receiving those military service members who made the ultimate sacrifice. After arriving by train, the bodies would be offloaded, inspected, assigned to an escort officer, and driven to their final resting place. Atlanta General Depot was on the site of what is now Fort Gillem in Forest Park, Georgia.
