Recovery Operations For Ship

The SS Republic was torpedoed off of Hobe Sound, Florida in March 1942. Captain Thomas H. Newman, who would later be investigated for making inquiries about torpedoed ships, led the recovery operations. His investigation file contained this photo, among other photos and documents.
