Using Kudzu To Combat Soil Erosion

These records show that kudzu was one of the plants introduced during the 1930's by CCC workers in their efforts to combat soil erosion. The aggressive nature of this plant was not understood until millions of seedlings had been planted. In 1953 the USDA categorized it as a weed and restricted its use.
