Jasper County, Georgia School Desegregation Plan

The holdings of the National Archives at Atlanta include desegregation plans from county school systems across the Southeast, as they were required to submit them through the Office of Education. In order to gather consensus from appropriate stakeholders, many counties like rural Jasper County, Georgia formed Bi-Racial Advisory Committees, which included influential black and white members of the community. The plans also included enrollment statistics, new school names, and Student Advisory Councils. These documents are only an excerpt from the complete Jasper County file.
