ASTP Statement And Drawings

The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) was the first joint U.S.-Soviet space flight and marked the end of the "Space Race" between the two superpowers. This statement of work and accompanying drawing broadly illustrate the docking procedure necessary to achieve rendezvous in space. Much of the work on the ASTP involved the docking mechanism and procedures for linking together in orbit two dissimilar crafts.
