Venereal Disease Study In Guatemala

Dr. John C. Cutler, of the U.S. Public Health Service, conducted an infamous venereal disease study in Guatemala from 1946 to 1948. Performed with cooperation from the Guatemalan president and health officials, the study involved infecting soldiers, prostitutes, prison inmates, and residents of a psychiatric hospital with syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases without their informed consent.
