Inland Waterway Progress Map

While some Americans were storming the Normandy beaches on D-Day, the Army Corps of Engineers reported on the progress of its inland waterway from the Beaufort Inlet to the Cape Fear River in North Carolina. While most of their work focused on waterway maintenance and improvement, the Corps of Engineers was also asked to contribute to military construction projects on land during the war.
