Town Planning
Aside from housing, the TVA towns that developed from the ground up had to provide their residents with a variety of goods and services: medical care, education, shopping, mail, recreation, and laundry, to name a few. Nothing was overlooked, as even the garbage receptacles and light posts were designed to create aesthetic cohesion in the town. Despite TVA's desire for utopian communities, these towns could not transcend the culture of a segregated South.
