RG 12 - Office of Education

Collected and disseminated information on education in the United States and abroad and promoted improved educational practices through financial assistance and special studies and programs.

Emergency School Assistance Case Files
This series consists of correspondence, reports, exhibits, charts, and plans relating to the racial integration of elementary and secondary schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Exhibits may include lists of principals, teachers, and staff employed by the school district with demographic information such as race, sex, degree, duration of teaching experience, employment status, and salary and statistics presenting the racial composition of the school district's student population.


RG 90 - Public Health Service

Administers federal programs to protect and improve the nation's physical and mental health. Provides guidance and support to the following constituent operating health agencies: Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Mental Health Administration; Centers for Disease Control; Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry; Food and Drug Administration; Health Resources and Services Administration; Indian Health Service; National Institutes of Health; and Agency for Health Care Policy and Research.Collected and disseminated information on education in the United States and abroad and promoted improved educational practices through financial assistance and special studies and programs.

Patient Registers
These series consist of registers of hospital patients in Memphis, Tennessee, during the periods 1881-1884 and 1909-1911. Entries may include the name of the patient and his age; birthplace; the number of years as a seaman; the date of admission to the hospital; the nature of his disease; and the date of discharge or death.

 

RG 442 - Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Administers national programs for prevention and control of communicable and vector-borne diseases. Develops and implements programs to improve environmental health. Directs and enforces foreign quarantines. Consults with and assists other nations and international bodies.


RG 511 - Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Mental Health Administration

Administers, through its component units, programs of research and treatment in areas of substance abuse (alcohol and drugs) and mental health.

General Administrative Records
This series consists of administrative records including annual and quarterly reports, correspondence and other documents concerning staff and the operation of the program.
