The Lady Bird Johnson Environmental Award honors outstanding achievements in the preservation, restoration, and improvement of the natural world. Its mission is to increase public awareness of the environmental issues facing our country by highlighting the work of selected individuals, corporations, and non-profits.
This award was created to underscore Lady Bird Johnson's devotion to conservation and the environment. Past recipients include Senator John Chafee, Patrick Noonan, Michael Dombeck, Governor Bruce Babbitt, Ted Turner, Ken Burns, and Laurance Rockefeller.
