2020 Reading Discovery Distance Learning Program & Video Conference

Distance Learning Program Reflects on President Bushs Role as a UN Ambassador

COLLEGE STATION, Jan. 23, 2020 -- The Education Department of the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations by reflecting on President George H.W. Bushs role as a United Nations Ambassador. This program focuses on the importance of diplomacy and the value of travel missions. Ambassador Sichan Siv, former Deputy Assistant to President Bush in the 41st Administration, will share contributions he made on behalf of the President and lessons he learned. Later as a U.N. Ambassador himself, he has stories of organizing travel missions for the USA.

The Honorable Dr. Teta V. Banks, National Chair, United Nations Association of the USA, will focus on the Model UN experience. She will share videos of United Nations Youth Ambassadors from India and of the Model United Nations experience that takes place at the U.N. Headquarters, New York City.

Joining the distance learning program during the Q&A session with questions are Canadian Youth Ambassador students in Ottawa, Canada; students from Hewlett-Woodmere, New York; and, from Zanesville, Ohio.

In the local auditorium, participating schools include Mumford ISD, Jane Long Intermediate School of Bryan ISD, and the International Leadership of Texas, College Station.

The 2020 free interactive game app is "Presidential Travel Mission: India." In it, you will play a State Department Deputy Director planning missions for future Presidential trips to India. These will further international relations and focus on U.S. -- India friendship building. This new game is available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store now.
